Landscape and Seascape
For this landscape and seascape assignment, I took my photos in my backyard, a local beach and then reused some previous photos from my trip to California. In my 6th photograph I got up close to the sea grass on the beach and let it partially cover the seascape in the background. With this shot a distinct foreground, middleground and background was established. The foreground being the patch of sea grass, the middleground a second patch of sea grass and finally in the background the river and even farther back some houses. My point of view in the photo was taken a little to the right but straight on in the vertical aspect. My photograph was taken horizontally but then cropped. In addition to depth in this photo, line and shape, texture and bright color were also used for visual interest. There is a shallow depth of field in this shot based on the foreground patch of grass being very clear in focus and the sunlight is hitting just right from a little off to the right and above. This photo communicates that this place is peaceful but with possible dangers lurking behind the sea grass.
